After Seeing This, You’ll Stop Using Your Phone In A Toilet!
A lot of people have a habit of taking their mobile phones in the toilet. But, by doing this seemingly normal habit, you are exposing yourself and other people to numerous harmful bacteria and germs.
Don’t use your phone in the toilet
Doctor Lisa Ackerley, hygiene expert, claims that if you touch your phone right after you wipe your private areas, you transfer bacteria from the hands to the phone.
Thus, washing hands after using the toilet is virtually pointless because, once you touch the mobile phone, all bacteria will return on your hands again.
What Kinds of Bacteria Can You Get?
If you are using the phone while in the bathroom, you are at risk from exposing yourself to these bacteria:
E.coli – these bacteria are commonly found in your intestines, where they don’t usually cause any damage. But, in some cases, it can lead to severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, anemia and even kidney failure.
Salmonella – it can lead to food poisoning if you eat contaminated foods. If you transfer Salmonella from your phone into the food you eat, you may put yourself in great danger.
Salmonella infections are characterized by nausea, fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps, headache, diarrhea and even blood in your stool. In some rare cases, Salmonella infection can cause dehydration, reactive arthritis and bacteremia.
C. difficile – it can infect humans and cause abdominal pain, fever and nausea. But severe infection can lead to colon inflammation which can even cause death.
According to Doctor Ron Cutler, the director of the department for biomedical science at the University of London, avoid taking your mobile phone in the toilet if you want to be protected from such bacteria.
Doctor Ackerley also says that you should keep in mind that viruses are not transferred only by hands. The spray from the toilet can travel around 6 feet from the flush, so don’t leave the phone and the toothbrush near the toilet bowl.
Germs can survive on your phone for a couple of days. And when they are heated, they offer the bacteria a nice and warm environment for multiplication.
So, always wash hands using soap and water and leave the phone in some other room or in the bag before going to the toilet.
